A much needed summer break

Posted by Joleen Vincent

The Spring semester was a challenging one for me. I struggled with having to use the darkroom at 9:00 A.M. in the morning, trust me being trapped in a room that smells like fixer for three hours at a time does not do good things for you. I've been dealing with a creative slump caused by the required use of a 4x5 camera for both of my major photo lab courses. Unfortunately I did not feel like I finished the semester as strong as I could have. Most of my grades have been posted and I've done really well so far. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best. Grad school is just around the corner!

With all the stress coupled with some procrastination on my part, I concluded the semester without finding a summer job or internship. I received my last paycheck as photo editor and I've started looking for a job that will have something to do with art or photography. Hopefully a job that I can keep through my last year of college and possibly even after I graduate.

In about a week my artificial lighting class will start. It is a six week course covering studio lighting, flash, business, stock, pricing, portfolio, commercial, etc. I'm excited about it, but I hope it isn't too intense because of the time frame.

I'll keep you posted!
